Patriots' Dion Lewis: Looking at 8-10 week recovery

Lewis -- who is slated to undergo what is being described as a "relatively minor" procedure on his left knee, figures to be sidelined for about 8-10 more weeks, the Boston Herald reports.

Analysis:

The report suggests that Lewis' left ACL -- which was repaired last November -- is sound, with the procedure being characterized as a clean-up. Based on this recovery estimate, there appears to be a good chance that Lewis is trending toward starting the coming season on the Patriots' PUP list, but on the plus side, the report solidifies the notion that Lewis has a good chance of playing this season. In his absence, look for James White to see added change-of-pace work in the New England offense, with the roster prospects of the likes of Tyler Gaffney, Donald Brown and even D.J. Foster boosted by the backfield void created by Lewis' injury.
