Texans' Kenny Hilliard: Leader in backfield touches

Hilliard led Houston's backs with seven rushing attempts in Saturday's win over New Orleans in preseason week 2. He gained 11 yards for an average of 1.6 per carry.

Analysis:

Hilliard was coming off a nice preseason Week 1 and was given ample first-half opportunities against the Saints, but could not replicate his production from the previous week. That might have something to do with an offensive line that was missing four of five starters, while getting carries against an opponent's front-line players. Nevertheless, the Texans are giving him a good look, calling his number for a team-high 19 preseason carries. That suggests he's in the mix for work if Alfred Blue's shoulder injury lingers into the regular season.
