Jordan Matthews doesn't appear to be at risk of missing time to start the regular season.

The Philadelphia Eagles receiver is considered day-to-day with a knee injury suffered during training camp, and head coach Doug Pederson said Saturday that he expects him to return in time for Week 1.

An initial diagnosis for Matthews' injury was a strain before Pederson later revealed that he's dealing with a bruise.

It remains to be seen whether the third-year wideout gets any preseason reps over the next two weeks, but news on his status remains relatively positive.

Matthews will once again open the season as the clear-cut No. 1 target in Philadelphia's passing game, with Nelson Agholor and Dorial Green-Beckham rounding out the top three spots on the depth chart.

The 24-year-old started in 12 of 16 appearances as a sophomore last season, leading the team in all major receiving categories with 85 catches for 997 yards and eight touchdowns.
