Browns' Robert Griffin: Looks sharp in second preseason game

Griffin completed six of eight passes for 96 yards and two touchdowns, adding three carries for 36 yards, in Thursday's preseason loss to the Falcons.

Analysis:

Undeterred by the absences of wideouts Josh Gordon (quad/suspension), Corey Coleman (hamstring) and Andrew Hawkins (hamstring), the 26-year-old Griffin connected with Terrelle Pryor for a gorgeous 50-yard touchdown along the right sideline on Cleveland's second drive. The Browns first-team offense did have some problems with penalties and the running game, but Griffin enjoyed a truly impressive evening, later making a perfect throw to TE Gary Barnidge for a 29-yard touchdown. Although he otherwise settled for short gains through the air, Griffin also made a couple big plays with his feet, ripping off runs of 22 and 14 yards. Already named as the starter, Griffin could play into the second half of Cleveland's third preseason game, perhaps even getting a chance to work with Gordon and/or Coleman.
