Lions' Eric Ebron: Still not practicing or playing

Ebron (leg/ankle) didn't play in Thursday's preseason game against the Bengals, and he still hasn't practiced since suffering an injury Aug. 6, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Analysis:

The Lions haven't provided details about the injury, which has now kept Ebron out of practice for nearly two weeks. Although he seems to be in danger of missing the entire preseason, Ebron hasn't been spotted with a walking boot, and he was able to stand on the sideline in street clothes for Tuesday's game. A return to practice next week would quell any concerns, as Ebron entered training camp with a lock on the starting tight end job. He merely needs to get healthy before Week 1, though it is hard to predict how many targets he'll receive on a Lions team that has so many options in the short passing game.
