Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is eagerly awaiting his preseason debut.

Rodgers didn't play in Green Bay's preseason opener, and will miss Thursday's contest against the Oakland Raiders as a precautionary measure.

Regardless, the two-time MVP said he expects to make his first appearance against the San Francisco 49ers on Aug. 26.

"I would expect extended time in the third game (at San Francisco)," Rodgers told ESPN's Rob Demovsky. "So it's about conditioning at that point, and making sure you feel good by the time Week 1 rolls around."

Rodgers is widely expected to be held out of the team's preseason finale, as he prepares to lead the Packers to the playoffs for the eighth consecutive season.
