Patriots' Dion Lewis: Remains sidelined

Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald suggests that he "wouldn't be shocked" if Lewis (knee/PUP) doesn't practice until Week 1.

Analysis:

While such an outcome is speculative, the fact remains that as the Patriots approach their second preseason game Thursday night against the Bears, Lewis remains on the team's PUP list and without a concrete timetable for a return to practice. Lewis, who tore his ACL last November, was able to make an appearance during the Patriots' OTAs in June, but his continued absence from practice in training camp would appear to leave open the possibility that he could potentially miss time, or at least be worked in slowly at the beginning of the coming season. When healthy, Lewis is an elusive back, capable of handling a portion of carries, while providing a dangerous pass-catching option out of the Patriots' backfield.
