Saints' Kai Forbath: Leads in kicking battle

Forbath is holding off Connor Barth for the starting kicker job, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, but the competition is "very close and far from decided."

Analysis:

Both Forbath and Barth kicked well during practice on Wednesday, but the battle between the two veterans still remains too tight to call. Although Forbath did himself no favors by missing badly on his only field goal attempt -- a 50-yarder -- in the Saints' preseason opener against the Patriots last week, his incumbent status likely gives him the early leg up.
