Cowboys' Ezekiel Elliott: Will not play Friday

Elliott (hamstring) has been ruled out of Friday's preseason matchup with the Dolphins, Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Analysis:

Elliott was in pads for Tuesday's practice, going through individual drills, but again was limited once team drills began. The Cowboys are going to continue to remain cautious with their rookie running back, who's now expected to sit out the team's second preseason outing versus the Dolphins. Elliott is reportedly targeting his debut against the Seahawks on Aug. 25, but his practice schedule next week will likely give a better indication of his availability for that matchup. He's still expected to be back to full strength by the start of the regular season.
