Browns' Robert Griffin: Named starting quarterback for Browns

Griffin was officially named the starting quarterback for the Browns on Monday.

Analysis:

Head coach Hue Jackson announced the news Monday and had high praise for the fifth-year quarterback, saying, "since he was signed back in March, Robert has made it clear through his actions that he is willing to do everything that has been asked of him to earn this role." Griffin did just that, as he'll look to press the reset button on an injury-riddled start to his career. There are still plenty of question marks surrounding Griffin in the wake of how things played out for him in Washington, notably his ability to stay healthy given the amount of pounding he tends to take thanks to his style of play. Still, the drafting of receiver Corey Coleman and the pending return of star wideout Josh Gordon (suspension/quad) could give Griffin -- who still possesses a strong throwing arm -- the sort of complementary talent needed to help turn his career around.
