Browns' Robert Griffin: Poised to be named starter?

Griffin, who has taken every first-team QB snap for the Browns in training camp, could be tabbed as the team's starter as soon as Monday, ESPN.com reports.

Analysis:

With that in mind, the report suggests that coach Hue Jackson "naming Griffin the Browns' starting quarterback has moved into the formality range." Though RG3 retains plenty of name recognition and has a legit NFL arm, his anticipated return to the league's starting QB ranks is accompanied by a fair amount of question marks and variables. Among them are his ability to stay healthy, given his tendencies to scramble, along with the fact that he's helming a team with a wideout corps in transition. Part of that transition involves handing promising rookie Corey Coleman a key role in the offense, while the team awaits the return of the talented Josh Gordon, who has has been conditionally reinstated by the NFL after he serves a four-game suspension to start the season.
