New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul said he's unaffected by his missing right index finger that was amputated as a result of a fireworks accident last summer.

Pierre-Paul wore a glove after returning for the 2015 season, recording 26 tackles, a sack, and two fumble recoveries in eight games.

Despite being at a physical disadvantage, Pierre-Paul doesn't feel any different.

"My (right) hand feels like my left hand, just missing a couple fingers," Pierre-Paul said via ESPN's Jordan Raanan.

Although he's not affected by his right hand, Pierre-Paul said he's still rounding himself into top form.

"I'm getting there," Pierre-Paul said. "Still trying to rush the passer, play the run, read my blocks right, communicate with (defensive tackles Johnathan Hankins and Damon Harrison), whoever is lining up with me. ... That is basically what training camp is all about. I'm just doing OK."

The Giants signed defensive end Olivier Vernon and Harrison this spring in an attempt to rebuff their defensive line. If Pierre-Paul returns to Pro Bowl form, the Giants could boast one of the league's most formidable fronts in the NFL.
