Patriots' Dion Lewis: Still sidelined

Among the Patriots players on the team's preseason PUP list, Lewis (who underwent ACL surgery this past November) is the only one who has yet to be spotted on the field at training camp.

Analysis:

Per the report, other Patriots players on the list have been seen attending practice and doing rehab work on the field while their healthy teammates work, thus making Lewis' absence worth noting. In advance of camp, things seemed to be moving along well for Lewis, who actually took part in the team's final spring practice that was open to the media. When asked about the running back's status Thursday, coach Bill Belichick noted: "Well, he's on PUP, so, there are certain things he's not allowed to do as far as team walkthroughs and things like that. But the meetings, all the teaching things that we do, he certainly participates in those." Predictably, Belichick didn't provide an estimate of when Lewis might return to action, with the running back's continued absence, prompting CSN New England to ponder the possibility that Lewis could be a candidate to remain on PUP for the start of the coming season.
