Cardinals' Tyrann Mathieu: Finalizing long-term extension
Mathieu (knee) and the Cardinals have agreed on a five-year contract extension worth roughly $12 million per year, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.
Analysis:
Mathieu has agreed to stick around in Arizona as he joins the league's highest-paid safeties in terms of guaranteed money ($21.25 million). The Cardinals continue to proceed cautiously with Mathieu - who is currently on the PUP list - throughout training camp as he's returning from a torn ACL suffered late last season. As one of the top safeties in the league, Mathieu's versatility adds IDP value.
