Report: Long to remain free agent after declining Ravens' injury waiver

Kyle Terada / USA TODAY Sports

Jake Long won't be joining the Baltimore Ravens heading into training camp.

The free-agent offensive tackle has declined to sign an injury waiver with the team after some concerns arose about the health of his knee, instead opting to remain a free agent, reports Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Long was sent for an examination with Dr. James Andrews this week after beginning his physical in Baltimore.

Though the evaluation evidently didn't result in the Ravens being more comfortable with the would-be signing, Long told ESPN over text message that he was "enthused" by Andrews' review.

Long remains on the open market free to sign with any team, while the Ravens will presumably look elsewhere to bolster the depth on the offensive line.

The free-agent departure of Kelechi Osemele, followed by the release of Eugene Monroe, leaves the unit without two of last year's starters heading into the fall.
