The Buffalo Bills officially have several key players starting training camp on the sidelines.

Receiver Sammy Watkins, defensive lineman Kyle Williams, and first-round rookie pass-rusher Shaq Lawson were each placed on the physically unable to perform list Friday.

Watkins is still recovering from offseason foot surgery. While there's been uncertainty surrounding his timeline of late, the third-year wideout has indicated that he expects to be back at 100 percent early on in camp.

Buffalo is presumably bringing Williams along slowly after a knee injury ended his 2015 season, and Lawson is expected to miss several months after undergoing shoulder surgery in May.

Players placed on the PUP list ahead of camp can be activated at any time before the regular season. Those who remain on the PUP list thereafter are required to miss at least the first six games of the year.
