Pierre-Paul planning to play season without club on injured hand

New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul wants to put his disappointing 2015 season behind him - including the club.

After returning from his infamous Fourth of July fireworks accident, JPP wore a club on his right hand that appeared to limit his abilities last season, but the 27-year-old has become accustomed to his modified appendage since.

"I'm not worried about no club," Pierre-Paul told reporters after reporting for Giants training camp on Thursday. "My hand feels great. No complaining, no nothing. I've been training hard, been getting after it and getting ready to play some football. The club isn't going to be an issue or anything. My right hand feels like my left hand."

Pierre-Paul had another operation on his hand this offseason, but doesn't have any further work scheduled after having his index finger amputated and losing parts of several other fingers.

He will have to put the hand through contact drills in training camp to be sure, but he remains confident that his hand will be healthy enough for him to return to his All-Pro form.

"I don't have to prove anything. It's free will. I know I don't need nothing to go out there to protect myself," said Pierre-Paul. "I feel comfortable in using my hand and striking with it and hitting with it. I'm very excited to show people, 'Hey, nothing has changed.'"
