The Cincinnati Bengals announced a pair of moves Thursday.

The team signed five-year veteran safety Jimmy Wilson and placed linebacker Vontaze Burfict on non-football injury list.

Wilson, 29, spent last season with the San Diego Chargers, starting in six games before being released in December. He will likely be used as a depth defender and special teams player.

Burfict can be removed from the list at any time during the preseason when he has been medically cleared, but head coach Marvin Lewis has already said he doesn't plan to play him during the preseason.

Burfict will be serving a three-game suspension to start the season and Lewis doesn't want to risk his playmaking linebacker suffering an injury and missing any more games than necessary.
