Browns' Robert Griffin: May get decision soon

Griffin shouldn't have to wait long for a decision, as head coach Hue Jackson said Thursday he will definitely name a starting quarterback before the team's first preseason game Aug. 12, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Analysis:

While expected to earn the job, Griffin will face competition from both Josh McCown and Cody Kessler. A quick decision would seem to work in Griffin's favor, but it's always possible preseason results could lead to a change before Week 1. In other Browns news, Josh Gordon (quad) has been conditionally reinstated by the NFL, albeit with a four-game suspension to start the season. Gordon is expected to miss the first few weeks of training camp while he recovers from a quad injury he suffered over the summer.
