Buccaneers' Noah Spence: Impresses Gerald McCoy in offseason workouts

Spence asked teammate Gerald McCoy to join him for offseason workouts and considerably impressed the All-Pro tackle, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.

Analysis:

The rookie from Eastern Kentucky has had high expectations placed on him coming into his first year, considering he carried a first-round grade heading into the draft. Spence, who began his college career at Ohio State before multiple failed drug tests led to his ouster from the Big Ten, excelled after transferring to Eastern Kentucky for the 2015 season with the intention of rehabilitating his image and proving he was both physically and mentally ready for the NFL.The 22-year-old was successful on both counts, amassing 63 tackles and 11.5 sacks, being named the Ohio Valley Conference co-Defensive Player of the Year, and perhaps most important, staying out of any off-field trouble. However, his history led to the drop in stock that enabled the Bucs to nab him in the second round, and the dynamic pass rusher appears to be carrying an underdog mindset as he prepares for his first pro training camp. Spence was notably deployed in a variety of roles during OTAs and mini-camps, playing at various spots along the defensive line.
