Buccaneers' Jameis Winston: Shows up early for training camp

Winston reported several hours early for training camp and joined the rookies for on-field work Wednesday, Joe Kania of the team's official site reports.

Analysis:

The sophomore quarterback, whose productive offseason has included a 20-pound weight loss, was apparently chomping at the bit to get training camp started, reporting several hours earlier than required for veterans and joining the rookies on the field during a morning session. Winston's gesture is yet another sign of his stated intent to become a true team leader in 2016, an approach that has not gone unnoticed by some of his most prominent teammates. "I know Jameis wants to get better," running back Doug Martin said, "and he's getting better. You see that he's going to be better and that's what bring optimism in this organization."
