Report: Cowboys face $250K fine for carrying 3 suspended players

Matthew Emmons / USA TODAY Sports

Based on the NFL's club remittance policy, the Dallas Cowboys are facing a fine of at least $250,000 for having three suspended players on their roster, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The Cowboys are set to start the year with linebacker Rolando McClain and defensive ends Randy Gregory and DeMarcus Lawrence on the NFL's banned list.

The league is still creating its fine schedule, based on the number of players suspended on each team.

Last season, any team with three suspended players was fined $250,000 and the league fines are not expected to decrease.

McClain and Lawrence have been suspended for the first four games and Gregory was originally handed a four-game ban, but is reportedly facing a longer suspension after another violation.

The club remittance policy was put in place to punish teams for acquiring players who have violated league policies.
