The Chicago Bears have signed former Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Brandon Boykin, the team announced.

Boykin, 26, previously signed with the Carolina Panthers in March, but was mysteriously released in May.

He spent last season with the Steelers, registering 25 tackles, one sack, one interception, and five pass deflections playing primarily as the slot corner. He played for the Philadelphia Eagles for three seasons after being selected in the fourth round in 2012.

Boykin will likely compete to be the Bears slot corner with Bryce Callahan.

The Bears also announced the signing of former Houston Texans and Seattle Seahawks receiver B.J. Daniels.
