Bears' Pernell McPhee: Placed on PUP list

The Bears placed McPhee on the active/PUP list Wednesday, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Analysis:

McPhee contended with a knee injury from Week 9 onward last year, missing two games while recording just one of his six sacks on the campaign the rest of the way. After the season, he underwent arthroscopic surgery on the knee and proceeded to miss the entirety of the offseason program. On Wednesday, general manager Ryan Pace relayed that he's unsure if McPhee will take part in any preseason contests, which leaves his availability for Week 1 up in the air.
