Mathieu placed on Cardinals' PUP list, says he'll be off 'shortly'

The Arizona Cardinals will open camp with safety Tyrann Mathieu on the physically unable to perform list, but he doesn't plan on staying there long.

Mathieu, who is recovering from a torn ACL, was placed on the list Tuesday along with defensive end Frostee Rucker, cornerback Justin Bethel, and linebacker Zack Wagenmann, the team announced.

The 24-year-old safety began last year's camp on the list and is ahead of schedule for his rehab this year.

Players can come off the PUP list at any time during training camp, essentially meaning Mathieu and the other three are not ready to practice as of today.
