As expected, the Cincinnati Bengals placed tight end Tyler Eifert on the physically unable to perform list Tuesday after he underwent offseason ankle surgery, according to a team press release.

Eifert suffered the injury in the Pro Bowl and is likely to miss all of training camp and some time early on in the regular season. The 25-year-old hauled in 13 touchdowns last season

Linebacker Rey Maualuga has been placed on the non-football injury list to start training camp. Defensive tackle Brandon Thompson and receiver James Wright were also placed on the PUP list.

All players can be taken off or put on either list at any point throughout the preseason. If players are still on the PUP list to begin the regular season, they must wait at least six weeks to be activated.
