Conflicting reports on whether Redskins considering signing Hardy

Matthew Emmons / USA TODAY Sports

The Washington Redskins have discussed signing free-agent defensive end Greg Hardy to replace injured pass-rusher Junior Galette, ESPN's Ed Werder reported Tuesday, citing sources.

Not long after Werder's report emerged, Mike Jones of the Washington Post shot it down, saying the Redskins are not considering Hardy.

What we know for sure is that Hardy hasn't drawn much interest from teams since the Dallas Cowboys released him earlier this year, likely owing to his checkered history (which includes a well publicized incident of alleged domestic violence and clashes with his coaches).

We also know Galette will miss the 2016 season after tearing his Achilles tendon for the second season in a row.

While it might makes sense for the Redskins to swap one pass-rusher with a history of off-field issues for another, it seems there is at least some hesitation to commit to Hardy.
