Report: Packers' Nelson had 'hiccup' in non-ACL knee, expected back for Week 1

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson experienced a "hiccup" Tuesday in his left knee but is expected back by Week 1, ESPN's Rob Demovsky reports.

It's not the knee Nelson had surgically repaired last summer after tearing his ACL in a pre-season game.

The team believes the problem is tendinitis resulting from overcompensation during rehab on his injured knee and is not currently viewed as serious, according to ESPN's Ed Werder.

"It's not the ACL. No one needs to freak out," Nelson told reporters.

But Packers fans will be forgiven if they do indeed freak out. Nelson's importance to the offense was revealed when he sat out 2015, as both Aaron Rodgers and fellow starting wideout Randall Cobb struggled as a result.

Nelson will begin training camp on the PUP list, and it sounds like the Packers will be very cautious with his health and may hold him out of the preseason, but for now it appears there is no legitimate concern Nelson won't be back to full health in time for the games that matter.
