Patriots' Sebastian Vollmer: Placed on PUP list

Vollmer (knee) is set to open training camp on the Patriots' active/PUP list, ESPN.com reports.

Analysis:

Vollmer dealt with nagging knee injuries throughout the 2015 campaign, which have presumably extended into this offseason. However, the Patriots are likely exercising caution with their valuable offensive lineman, as he further proved his versatility last season by sliding over to protect Tom Brady's blind side when LT Nate Solder (biceps) was lost to IR after just four games. When he's cleared to practice, Vollmer will revert back to his natural right tackle position.
