Report: Armstead, Lewis to begin camp on Saints' PUP list

The New Orleans Saints won't have their starting left tackle and top cornerback on the field to start training camp, reports The Advocate's Nick Underhill.

The Saints have reportedly placed offensive tackle Terron Armstead, cornerback Keenan Lewis, wide receiver Vincent Brown, and linebacker Hau'oli Kikaha, who is expected to miss the 2016 season, on the physically unable to perform list.

Players can be placed on the list and taken off at any time during training camp, unlike the regular season PUP list that requires players to miss at least the first six weeks.

ESPN's Mike Triplett reports that Armstead's injury is unknown, but not significant.

Armstead, who recently signed a five-year extension, missed three games last season with a knee injury, including the Saints' season finale. He participated in the team's spring workouts and is expected to start as Drew Brees' blindside protector this year.

Lewis featured in just six games last season, and didn't start any of them. He has had surgery on his knee, hip, and a sports hernia since he last played in Week 10. He started all 32 games for the Saints between the 2013 and 2014 seasons.

Kikaha tore his ACL in June's offseason workouts and is not expected to return at any point during the 2016 regular season.
