Patriots' Dion Lewis: Set to open camp on PUP list

Lewis (knee) is set to open training camp on the Patriots' active/PUP list, ESPN's Mike Reiss reports.

Analysis:

Lewis' inclusion on the list comes as little surprise, given that he is bouncing back from surgery this past November to repair a torn ACL. To date, his progress appears to be going well, but the running back will be one to watch in the coming weeks, nonetheless. Players on the active/PUP list are eligible to come off the list (and resume practice) at any time during training camp, though as long as Lewis is out or slowed at all, the likes of UDFA D.J. Foster and veteran Donald Brown figure to have added opportunities to make cases to secure spots in the Patriots' 2016 backfield.
