Seahawks, GM Schneider reach extension agreement
The Seattle Seahawks have reached an agreement with general manager John Schneider on a contract extension, team owner Paul Allen confirmed Sunday.
The new deal will make Schneider one of the highest-paid GMs in the NFL, reports ESPN's John Clayton, citing a source, and will run through the 2021 season, a source told NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.
Schneider's contract was set to expire following the 2016 season. His new deal is expected to be in the range of $3.75 million, the same salary as the league's highest-paid GM, Ozzie Newsome of the Baltimore Ravens.
Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll is also expected to receive a new deal soon, as his contract is also scheduled to expire at the end of the season.
Schneider has been with the team for six seasons, reaching two Super Bowls.
