Cruz: 'I'll be ready to go' when Giants camp opens

New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz's comeback is almost complete.

Following a year-and-a-half absence due to a torn patellar tendon and a calf injury, Cruz said he expects to be ready to participate in New York's camp when it opens Thursday.

"I'll be ready to go," Cruz said Thursday, according to Ebenezer Samuel and Peter Sblendorio of the New York Daily News. "I'll see what's up when I meet with the trainers and I step foot in that facility on the first day. But my expectation is to be ready to rock and roll."

Giants fans have heard this before, however.

The 30-year-old appeared to be on track to return during last season's camp, so until Cruz is able to show he's 100 percent recovered from his ailments, skepticism will likely linger.

If and when Cruz is able to return to an NFL field, he said it'll be an emotional experience.

"Might shed a few tears, shed a few laughs," Cruz said. "It's all about the process and cherishing this moment because you don't know if you’re gonna get it again."
