Charles Barkley: Odell Beckham Jr. is 'becoming too famous'

Former NBA great and basketball analyst Charles Barkley thinks Odell Beckham Jr. needs to settle down and focus on football.

Beckham has been one of the NFL's most popular stars on and off the field since bursting onto the scene as a one-handed-catch-making rookie.

He's secured endorsements, shot commercials, socialized with celebrities, and even reportedly dated a Kardashian in his free time, and Barkley believes it's going to catch up with him on the field.

"I think Odell Beckham is a stud and he's getting a lot of commercials, but I think he's starting to get to the point where he's becoming too famous instead of worrying how to become a great football player," Barkley told NFL Network on Friday. "I think he needs to be careful. Just lay low and just kick butt on the field. I mean, nobody cares about all that extracurricular stuff."

Barkley's criticism was triggered by a discussion about Beckham's recent comments about rival cornerback Josh Norman. Beckham said Norman is only relevant because of his spat with the New York Giants receiver.

"Well that's just stupid," Barkley said. "Josh Norman is fantastic. I mean c'mon man. I think that Beckham, I don't know him I've only said hello to him one time. There's two ways fame works: You run fame or fame runs you. And it can get out of hand very quickly."
