Cardinals' Palmer: Starting 1-0 more important than beating Brady

Tom Brady or not, the Arizona Cardinals just want a win.

Carson Palmer backed up teammate Calais Campbell's previous comments stating that their team is more concerned about picking up a 'W' in their season opener than claiming bragging rights over Brady.

"Yes, to an extent (I would like to face Brady), but I want to be 1-0," Palmer told SiriusXM NFL radio on Friday. "That's the mindset. It'd be great, but at the same time, I think our odds go up a little bit of getting to 1-0 and moving onto that second game. That's all that matters."

The Cardinals will face a Brady-less New England Patriots in their season opener after the future Hall-of-Fame quarterback ended the legal battle against his four-game suspension.

Palmer admits it would be ideal to begin the season by topping Brady, but his pride will be satisfied by the weekly task of facing the world's best football players.

"You can say, 'Yeah, I want to play against the best.' You're going to play against the best week in and week out more often than not," said Palmer. "I want to get to 1-0 and then 2-0 and continue to roll."
