Cowboys' Elliott denies allegations he abused woman

A representative for Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott has denied allegations he abused a woman, TMZ Sports reports.

The allegations came to light when a woman named Tiffany Thompson, who is believed to be Elliott's girlfriend, posted two photos to Instagram.

The first depicts several photos of bruises and includes a caption that references being choked and thrown into walls over a series of months. Thompson says she was told, ostensibly by her abuser, that it was "tough love."

The second post includes more pictures of injuries and a caption that simply tags Elliott's Instagram handle.

"I can assure you (the allegations) are not true," a rep for Elliott told TMZ.

The accuser reportedly filed a police report in Columbus, Ohio on Friday saying Elliott, who she said she lives with, assaulted her in a parked vehicle. Police responded and reportedly spoke to Elliott, who denied living with her and told authorities her bruises were the result of a fight with another woman, according to Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Elliott was not arrested because witnesses could not corroborate that an assault occurred.

The case has reportedly been referred to the prosecutor's office.

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told Pro Football Talk the league is aware of the allegations and will conduct its own investigation.
