Colts' Frank Gore: May see less carries in 2016

The Colts plan to reduce Gore's workload in 2016, ESPN's Mike Wells reports.

Analysis:

The 33-year-old logged 260 carries in 2015, but averaged an ineffective 3.7 yards per attempt that was notably less than his previous career-low figure of 4.1. A lighter load in 2016 could keep Gore fresh and more productive on a per-clip basis, and will also allow the Colts to effectively take stock of their backfield talent with an eye towards a point in time when Gore is no longer part of the equation. In addition to the presumed reduction of wear and tear the extra rest will bring, the real boon to Gore's prospects and health this upcoming season will be the Colts' newfound emphasis on their offensive line.
