Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant has filed a lawsuit in district court against Royce West, a former member of his inner circle and trusted financial adviser, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Bryant alleges West used his position and Bryant's fame to "improperly line his own pockets and those of his business associates."

The attorneys in the lawsuit obtained by NFL.com claimed West breached his fiduciary duty, exhibited gross negligence, and performed fraud, among other infractions.

Bryant's suit also names an associate of West, David Wells, who was given Power of Attorney over Bryant on the advise of West.

The 27-year-old claims that Wells sometimes acted without his knowledge when using his name and likeness to attract marketing deals.

"Then, West would instruct endorsement companies and others to make payments for any endorsement agreements to Wells, not Bryant. Many of these payments stopped at Wells and/or West, but never reached Bryant," the lawsuit states.

According to the lawsuit, Bryant is seeking the $300,000 that he alleges West and his law firm took, as well as more than $200,000 owed to him from endorsement deals, which Bryant claims Wells "absconded" with.

The counterclaim is in response to West's decision to sue Bryant over damage he claimed the receiver did to his property in DeSoto, Texas. Bryant had lived in the house for several years, and West alleges that he had to spend $60,000 to repair it.

According to the lawsuit, Bryant is asking the court to recover all losses, as well as any fees paid.
