Dolphins' Foster anticipates being used in passing game

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

Newly signed Miami Dolphins running back Arian Foster says he's excited to play in head coach Adam Gase's scheme because he believes it's a perfect match for his skills in the passing game.

"Adam knows how to use a running back out of the backfield, which is my best quality, route-running, catching the ball out of the backfield." Foster said after signing a one-year deal Monday, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

Once a clear-cut workhorse, Foster is coming off Achilles surgery and will turn 30 in August. It makes sense for the Dolphins to limit his use to passing downs, while using sophomore Jay Ajayi as an early-down, between-the-tackles runner.

It sounds like Foster understands that. Asked if he expects to start for the Dolphins, Foster gave a diplomatic answer.

"I don't have any expectations. Just coming here to compete and help the squad out however I can."
