Dolphins sign RB Foster

Running back Arian Foster will join the Miami Dolphins on a one-year deal worth $1.5 million.

Mike McCartney, Foster's agent congratulated the former Texans star via Twitter on Monday.

Foster could earn as much as $3.5 million based on incentives.

Ironically, the Dolphins' leading rusher last year, Lamar Miller, signed with the Texans in the offseason.

Foster will compete with Jay Ajayi and rookie Kenyan Drake for playing time.

Foster was a free agent who earned the starting job in Houston in 2010. He averaged 20 carries per game but also suffered a series of setbacks including hamstring injuries, a knee injury, groin injuries and a major back injury that required surgery.

Foster has rushed for more than 1,200 yards four times in his career. He led the league in rushing during his second season, running for 1,616 yards in 2010 for the Houston Texans. He ran for 1,246 yards in 13 games in 2014, but he played in just four games last season before the Achilles injury.

Foster turns 30 years old next month.
