Jets' Marshall: Fitzpatrick isn't returning my texts
New York Jets wideout Brandon Marshall says free-agent quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick has gone radio silent.
"To be honest, me and Fitz talk every day, all the time, but I texted him the last two weeks three times and there's no response," Marshall said on actor Michael Rapaport's podcast on the weekend. "The only thing that he can do to make this right is to say he was on vacation, was out of the country. It's not like him. It's scaring me right now. It's scaring me that my guy hasn't texted me back."
Fitzpatrick quarterbacked the Jets last season and established a great rapport with Marshall and fellow wideout Eric Decker. Both players publicly spoke out earlier in the offseason in support of the team re-signing Fitzpatrick.
While a reunion between the Jets and Fitzpatrick has seemed inevitable, it's mid-July and there's still no deal between the two parties. And now, if Fitzpatrick's lack of communication is any indication, things could be moving in the wrong direction.
Of course, it's entirely possible Fitzpatrick is indeed on vacation. This is the time of year much of the NFL world gets a few weeks away from the grind.
