The Denver Broncos' contract negotiations with Von Miller are "headed in the right direction quickly," says NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

The Broncos have offered more than $70 million in guarantees on a six-year, $114-million deal, reports Rapoport. That would be the highest amount of guaranteed money for a defensive player in the league, if he were to accept.

Mike Klis of 9News reports that the offer includes exactly $70 million in guarantees, but not more, adding that the Broncos are expected to hold firm at that amount.

A source familiar with the talks said he was "optimistic" Miller and the Broncos would get a deal done by the deadline, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter and Jeff Legwold.

Miller has until 4:00 p.m. ET on Friday to negotiate a new contract with the Broncos. If the two sides don't reach a deal by then, he'll have to either sign and play the 2016 season under his franchise tag, or sit out in hopes of renegotiating after the season.

The 27-year-old linebacker has been adamant that he won't play the season without a new deal, calling the franchise tag "a league-wide problem."

Teammate Chris Harris Jr. recently stated that he believes Miller is willing to sit out the season without a new deal, but predicted that the linebacker would sign a contract by "Friday morning at the latest."
