Chiefs' Eric Berry: Unlikely to reach agreement on extension
Berry and the Chiefs are unlikely to reach agreement on an extension prior to Friday's deadline for franchise-tagged players, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
Analysis:
According to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, the two sides remain far apart in negotiations, but it's still possible a deal could happen Friday. If not, Berry will play out 2016 under his $10.806 million franchise-tag salary, and then be able to hit free agency next offseason. He played all 16 games last year, recording 61 tackles (55 solo), two interceptions and 10 passes defended.
