Falcons' Terron Ward: Could push for touches

Falcons RB coach Bobby Turner admitted that although Ward went undrafted, he made the team for a reason and could push Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman in 2016 as the No. 3 running back, The Atlanta Journal-Constiution reports.

Analysis:

Bobby Turner is a renowned RB coach, having wrangled 1,000-yard seasons out of eight different players at the tailback position. However, his comments in this instance may largely prove to be mere motiviational coachspeak over the long term. After all, Devonta Freeman, Turner's most recent success story, hasn't gone anywhere, leaving him the presumed starter entering the 2016 campaign. Additionally, Turner has expressed a desire to get Coleman, a 2015 third-round pick, more involved as well. Ultimately, there are only so many touches to be allocated amongst one backfield, and barring injuries to Freeman and Coleman, Ward will likely find himself on the outside looking in this season.
