Saints not interested in reunion with Reggie Bush

The New Orleans Saints can be crossed off the list of destinations as Reggie Bush seeks a team with which to play an 11th NFL season.

Head coach Sean Payton said in an appearance on the "Rich Eisen Show" that, although a potential reunion was discussed last offseason, Bush isn't a fit for what's now a crowded offensive backfield.

"That almost happened a year ago, and we actually had dinner out here," Payton said. "It got close and it never kind of finalized itself, and I'm sure he's going to play this year. But we drafted a young player, (Daniel) Lasco, from Cal. C.J. Spiller is there, we drafted a kid (Marcus Murphy) a year ago out of Missouri. So we've had a handful of players, I don't know if our roster is going to allow that right now."

Bush, selected No. 2 overall in the 2006 draft, played the first five seasons of his career in New Orleans before moving on to spend time with the Miami Dolphins, Detroit Lions, and San Francisco 49ers.

He's now on the wrong side of 30, and injuries led to a substantial hit in production over each of the past two years, but it remains possible that he has something left to offer as a passing-game specialist.

Bush said in June he's taking his time to make the right decision after receiving interest from two teams.
