The Denver Broncos remain focused on signing Von Miller to a long-term deal.

As Friday's deadline to negotiate with franchise-tagged players fast approaches, the team hasn't seriously considered the possibility of trading their star pass-rusher, reports Mike Klis of 9News.

Denver's reluctance to look for new suitors certainly doesn't come as a surprise. The reigning Super Bowl MVP appears poised to remain as one of the NFL's premier players for the forseeable future, and he's undoubtedly the key contributor on Denver's league-best defense.

But with his strong stance against playing the 2016 season under the franchise tag and seemingly threatening to sit out if he doesn't receive a long-term deal, there's a chance that a trade would at some point present the club with some considerable value.

Denver placed the exclusive franchise tag on Miller to keep him off the free-agent market heading into the offseason. Any negotiations for a potential trade of a player after receiving such a designation must start at two first-round picks.

It remains to be seen whether the Broncos would become intrigued by such an option if Friday's deadline passes without a deal, but team officials can be expected to do everything possible to ensure that doesn't happen.

More often than not, these standoffs are settled with 11th-hour deals. After agreeing to a five-year, $70-million deal with Demaryius Thomas hours ahead of last year's deadline, the Broncos are no stranger to the lengthy process.

Miller, who compiled double-digit sacks for the fourth time over his first five seasons in 2015, spoke out Monday with his strongest stance against the franchise tag to date.

The 27-year-old reiterated that he will not play under the one-year, $14-million tender, characterizing the tag as a "league-wide problem" that he feels he's in position to help solve.
