Elrod stepping down as Tennessee Titans' team physician

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Burton Elrod is stepping down as a team physician for the Tennessee Titans after 19 years.

The Titans announced Friday that David Moore would be a new team physician. Thomas Byrd, Craig Rutland and John Williams also are team physicians for the Titans.

Elrod said in a statement that ''after 20-plus weekends a year and almost 400 NFL games, it's time for a break. I'm leaving the Titans with what I consider the best team doctors, consultants, and trainers in the NFL.'' Elrod added that ''I am going to enjoy watching the Titans win and not having to work the games.''

Moore is a team physician for Lipscomb University and was the Nashville Predators' head physician from 2007-08.
