Rams add Mike Singletary as defensive advisor

Kirby Lee / US PRESSWIRE

The Los Angeles Rams have added Mike Singletary to their staff as a defensive advisor, Singletary said in an interview on 670 The Score on Tuesday, according to CBS Chicago.

The Hall of Famer was an eight-time first-team All-Pro linebacker with the Chicago Bears from 1981-1992. He then joined the coaching ranks and served as the San Francisco 49ers' head coach from October 2008 until late in the 2010 season.

Singletary moved on to become special assistant to the head coach/linebackers coach for the Minnesota Vikings from 2011-13, but has been out of coaching since then.

Los Angeles should be an excellent fit for Singletary, considering he is familiar with Rams head coach Jeff Fisher, having played alongside him from 1981-85 under the recently deceased Buddy Ryan.
