Eli Manning believes the New York Giants playoff drought will come to an end in 2016, after four-straight seasons missing the post season.

"I'm excited about this year with the Giants, I'm excited about Coach (Ben) McAdoo and staying in that same offense," Manning told NFL Media's Rhett Lewis. "I'm looking forward to getting back to making playoffs and getting back to what we're expected to do."

The Giants have certainly invested in the present, making a big splash in free agency by signing defensive linemen Olivier Vernon and Damon Harrison, as well as cornerback Janoris Jenkins. The thought process of the front office seemed to center around bolstering the defense while their eighth-ranked offense would maintain.

That being said, the Giants could improve offensively with Victor Cruz expected to return after missing all of 2015, in addition to tight end Larry Donnell and rookie Sterling Shepard.

"We expect to score the ball more. We think we can score over 28 points a game," Manning said. "We were close to hitting that last year. I think being my third year in the offense, getting some new weapons like Sterling (Shepard), getting Victor Cruz back, getting Larry Donnell back healthy. ... We do have a lot of weapons."

Despite the Giants' team woes, Manning ended up having his best statistical season in 2015, completing 62.6 percent of passes for 4,436 yards and 35 touchdowns.

Manning has also limited his interceptions to 14 in each of the past two seasons, a potential sign that he's put the turnover troubles of 2013 (29) behind him.
