Ex-Pittsburgh Steeler to be arrested for graffiti project

PITTSBURGH (AP) A former Pittsburgh Steeler-turned-artist faces 30 counts of criminal mischief after police say he painted graffiti along high-profile locations in Pittsburgh including a riverfront trail system and a bridge.

Baron Batch was with the Steelers for three seasons but played in just 12 games, all in 2012.

He had said on his website he planned to create ''public art'' and acknowledged having tagged buildings and other public spaces.

He also posted that he is sorry and that ''I did break the rules.''

His work is easily identified by multicolored elephant drawings and the image of an eye as well as messages of encouragement.

Public safety officials say Batch is cooperating and will be served a warrant in a few days.

The damage from the graffiti was put at over $16,000.
